How is a product licensed? What does 'licensed' mean?

Our software is licensed in a "try before you buy" fashion.  All our paid versions have a 15-day fully functional trial period.  When you buy a license, a license key will be emailed to you. There is no need to reinstall when you become a registered user.

As a registered user, you will get:

  • A license key that will remove all "Unlicensed" and "Expired" stamps in the software, and unlock the features.
    All trial limitations for the version are immediately removed.
  • There is a one-time only charge, no annual fees required.
  • Free upgrades for all minor builds and discounts on our products.
  • Free high priority technical support for three months.


How do I order?

You can order your license in any one of the following ways,

(1) Choose "Buy" link or click the "BUY NOW" button to get to the order page,

(2) Select payment type on the order page. You can pay with your credit card or PayPal account, or other ways.

(3-1) On the Credit Card /PayPal order page, select your products and quantity, enter your email, then click "Checkout with PayPal".




On the payment page, choose to pay with your credit card directly, or PayPal account.

Why PayPal? I don't have a PayPal account, can't I pay with my credit card?

You can pay with their credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) all without having a PayPal account. PayPal protects your financial information with industry-leading security and fraud prevention systems. You don't have to have a PayPal account to pay, you can pay directly with your credit card, or of course with a PayPal account.

Yes you can. You can order your product by selecting your products and license type and click "Next". On the PayPal information page, click "Continue". Also see "How do I order? Step 3-1".



I don't have a credit card, can't I pay with my bank account?

Yes you can. Create a PayPal account with your bank account, then you can pay with your PayPal account.


I need to install on more than one PC. How does a multi-license work?

A single license allows you to install on one PC only. It does not allow you to install the software on a network or used by more than one PC.

A multi-license is an economical way of buying licenses for your organization, network, or family PCs.

The number of multi-user license is determined by the total number of installation PC, regardless how many users are using one PC. E.g. if your company has 50 PCs (including workstation, terminals and laptops), it will need a 50 PC multi-license. If it's installed on a network server or Remote Desktop Service (RDP) environment, the total number of client PCs or terminal workstations is required.

For orders of 50 licenses or more, a site license package will be sent to you.

I ordered an hour ago. Where is my license key?

If you order through the PayPal with your PayPal account, the license key is emailed to you automatically the minute the credit card payment is approved. 
If you order through RegNow.com, the license key is emailed to you after we receive an email notice. That is within 12 hours. 

If the email address is not correct or, for any reason you don't find the license key in your email for a day, please email Sales with your name and software you bought, so we can check your order manually.


I lost my license key, how can I get it again?

We use a registered user database to manage registered users. You can email to Support  with your name, email address, the date and products you ordered.  We will email you your license key again. 


How do I enter a license key?

Our software is licensed in a "try-before-you-buy" fashion. Download is always free. Here are the steps on how to run enter your license key (e.g. ScreenHunter).

(1) Download the setup package, saving to your hard drive. (EXE , ZIP, or MSI).
(2) Run the saved setup package to set up.
(3) After the setup, run ScreenHunter 6 Pro from the Windows Start (program group), or the icon on your desktop.
(4) Enter your license key.
If a program is not licensed, it will ask for your license when the program starts. We suggest to enter you license key by copy&pasting into each block to avoid possible typo, such as 1 or I, 0 or O.
Please check the program title to make sure the program you're running is what you're licensed for. You may need to restart the program after entering the license key.

E.g. ScreenHunter 6 Pro

After a program is licensed, the Register button is disabled and it will not ask again.

If it doesn't ask you to enter the license key and Register button is grayed out, it means the software is licensed and you don't need to enter the license key again.  The licensing information on your PC is kept when you uninstall/reinstall the software.



What is your refund policy?

All Wisdom-soft software products are sold in a "try-before-you-buy" fashion. They have a fully functional trial period. You have plenty of time to evaluate and you shouldn't buy unless you are happy with it.

After a license key is issued and your order is processed, it is our company policy that no refund will be available.


What is a Free version company license?

The free versions don't need registration for an individual to use. If the software is installed on a company PC or network, or company managed computers, it requires a company license.

A company means an organization, including public and private companies, governments, institutions and non-profit organizations. A company license is a registration document that allows the total number of installations.

We have kept your registration cost as low as we can, $1/pc for ScreenHunter Free and $2/pc for AutoScreenRecorder Free. The minimum quantity is 20 licenses.

What is a site license?

If you order the Pro or Plus verion, 50 multi-license or over, we can ship a site license.

A site license is a separate install package for the Pro or Plus versions that you can install on each PC with no license keys required to enter.

To order, please call or email us with your quote request. We take POs for site licenses.

Also, we can go with an annual fee model that you can pay a lower fee each year to license the products.


How do I upgrade?

There are two types of upgrades: minor and major.

Minor upgrades have the same major version number as the product you are using. For example, if you are a registered user of AutoScreenRecorder 3.x, any new 3.x release is considered minor. Also a new build is minor too, such as from 3.1.367 to 3.1.369 Pro. Minor upgrades are free. Just download the new trial version and install.  Your license key will be taken automatically that there is no need to enter again.

Major upgrades have a different version number than the product you are using. E.g. ScreenHunter 5.1 to 6.0. Major upgrades are not free unless special maintenance packages are purchased. All registered users are entitled to have a special upgrade price.

To order an upgrade, on the order page, you can select Upgrade... from the product dropdown list and then select or enter the quantity.

What do I do when I get a security warning when downloading?

All Wisdom-soft product setup packages are virus-free and no malware, spyware, etc. at all. You can install and run it anytime.

On some browser settings, when you download, there is a warning displayed. That is a standard warning that you can choose to run.

How do I make a portable version and install from a USB drive?

Basically, you can make your portable version by copying all the files installed on your regular PC onto your USB drive.

Here is an example of making a portable version of ScreenHunter 6 Pro.

(1) Run the install pack (SetupScreenHunter.EXE) on your normal PC.
(2) Go to the installed folder, say C:\Program Files\Wisdom-soft\ScreenHunter 6.0 Pro\
(3) Copy all the files in that folder to your USB drive.
(4) When you insert the USB drive to another PC, run "ScreenHunter.exe" from the USB drive folder.


Is the software compatible with Windows 8 and 10?  And what is a 64-bit Windows?

Yes. All our software products are compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 10, for both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. However, they do not work on a Mac.

Windows have 32-bit and 64-bit versions. All Wisdom-soft products support 64-bit Windows.


What do I do if my computer crashed and I need a new copy of the software?

Download the software again and use the license key you already have to unlock it on the new computer.  If you lost your license key, email us your order information with your name, email address and purchase date. We will send the license key after verifying your registration.  More...

When installing a newer version, should I remove the old copy? 

Yes. We recommend that you uninstall the old version before installing the new version. 

1. Make sure the program is not running.

  • For AutoScreenRecorder and ScreenHunter: Click the Exit link at the bottom of the Tasks group on the main window, and make sure no AutoScreenRecorder or ScreenHunter is running. (Check the Windows taskbar in the system tray that there should have no program icon showing).
  • For MotionStudio and MotionGIF, just close the program.

2. Run uninstall.  Uninstall is built-in with all our applications. You can go from your Windows, Start/Programs/Wisdom-soft {program}/Uninstall, to remove the application. Or, go your control panel and run uninstall from the program list.

Note for MotionStudio and MotionGIF: Since uninstalling will remove all library and sample files that came with the installation package, please make a backup copy of the library and sample files if you have changed and want to keep them.


I tried "Add or Remove" from Control Panel, it gave me a "Could not open install.log file". Why?

It could be that the program files are deleted manually or by other means.
What you can do is to install ScreenHunter Pro again to the same folder and run uninstall right after.
 
Before uninstalling, make sure ScreenHunter Pro is not running (No icon in the system tray).

(1) Make sure that 'Hide extensions for known file types' is unchecked of your Windows Explorer (press Windows key + E).
(2) Change 'Install Log' to Install Log.txt', then when you go to uninstall ScreenHunter it asks to find 'Install Log.txt' with an 'open/save' dialog box, choose open and then straight after uninstall continues.


How do I uninstall Wisdom-soft Toolbar?

What is the difference between AutoScreenRecorder and ScreenHunter?

AutoScreenRecorder
is for recording screen activities, such as screen changes, mouse clicks, menu operations or streaming online movies. It saves them into a video file, either in Flash movie or standard AVI format. The saved video file can be played back by any media player, or browser (for Flash movies).

ScreenHunter is for taking still image screenshots. It takes a part or the full screen and saves it to an image file, such as BMP, JPEG or GIF, PDF or Text file.


What is the difference between MotionStudio and MotionGIF?

MotionStudio
is for creating a stand-alone EXE file with interactive actions and animation. No viewer or additional file required to run the stand-alone EXE.

MotionGIF is for making animated GIF files. An animated GIF file is a picture with animation that you can put anywhere on your website. It only needs a browser and doesn't require any viewer to view the animation.


Where can I get a previous version?

Some previous versions are available for download from our Support Center.


How do I show image file extensions?

By default, file extensions for known file types are hidden in Windows XP and Vista. You can change this setting so that file extensions are shown for files in a certain folder or for all files.

To show file extensions,

(1) Open Windows Explore (pressing Windows Key + E)
(2)
Select Folder Options... from the Tools menu and click the View tab.
(3) Find the option Hide extensions for known file types and uncheck that.
(4) Click the Apply to All Folders button and click OK.

Note
This setting is system wide, so unchecking this box will make file extensions appear in all folders.
